NEW YORK – Hockey great Wayne Gretzky accepted his induction plaque and gifts from the recently established Ukrainian Sports Museum and Hall of Fame from Theodore Bodnar (right), vice-president. The presentation was made on October 20 at the NHL Store in New York during Mr. Gretzky’s book tour stop there. Mr. Bodnar noted of the honoree: “He was very gracious, humble and honored – and knew about the museum.” The meeting between Mr. Bodnar and “The Great One,” who played for the Edmonton Oilers, the Los Angeles Kings and the New York Rangers, was arranged with the help of the store manager. The Ukrainian Sports Museum and Hall of Fame is located at the Ukrainian American Cultural Center of New Jersey in Whippany. Its inaugural induction ceremonies were held on September 17.
