Michael Koziupa, president of the New Jersey branches of both the Ukrainian Congress Committee of America and the Organization for the Defense of Four Freedoms for Ukraine, who has organized the commemoration of Ukrainian Independence Day in Wildwood Crest for 27 years, addresses the crowd, which was informally estimated at several hundred people. Also displayed is the naval ensign of Ukraine, which was first hoisted by the Ukrainian navy in 1918; it is held by Damian Handzy of the Chornomortsi fraternity of Plast Ukrainian Scouting Organization.
