The European Court of Human Rights has requested answers from the Russian government in connection with two claims brought against Russia over the downing of Malaysia Airlines Flight 17 (MH17) over militant-controlled parts of Donbas on July 17, 2014. Three hundred eighty relatives of the 298 people who lost their lives accuse Russia of responsibility for the catastrophe, which is known to have been caused by a Russia Buk missile. The two collective claims refer to a number of articles of the European Convention on Human Rights, including the right to life.
