BROOKLYN, N.Y. – The Ukrainian Sports Club of N.Y. (known by its Ukrainian acronym YCK) is excited to announce that they have officially relocated to the Greenpoint neighborhood of Brooklyn, N.Y.
After a great win by the N.Y. Ukrainians Reserves soccer team on April 25, club members for the first time visited the new building at 663 Manhattan Avenue, just blocks away from the N.Y. Ukrainians home field at McCarren Park in Brooklyn, N.Y.
Members were happy to see their new home, walking through the new home and popping open a bottle of champagne to celebrate.
YCK President Willie Zinkewitsch wished everyone the very best at the club’s new location.
“We would like to move forward with the same effort and spirit our previous YCK founders provided for many of us – a venue to engage in humanities, social development, culture and sports for youth/adult male and female members in our extended community,” Mr. Zinkewitsch said. “Let’s show our founders that with hard work and dedication, we can build our new club for our youth to participate in and be part of for many generations to come.”
The club is moving full speed ahead with necessary renovations, including by contacting contractors to replace the roof. The next phase of the renovation project will include a complete demolition on the ground floor. The organization is excited that athletes will have a great space in the basement to utilize as a locker room before and after games.
Further progress of the renovations can be seen via the organization’s social media platforms, which include https://www.facebook.com/YCK1947 and https://www.instagram.com/fc_nyukrainians/. The club looks forward to having visitors soon!
