PARSIPPANY, N.J. – The Ukrainian National Association’s New Jersey District Committee convened its fall organizing meeting here at the UNA Home Office on Monday, November 5.

The meeting was led by District Chair Oksana Stanko, who is also a newly elected UNA advisor. The minutes were recorded by George Stanko, who also read the minutes from the district’s previous organizing meeting held in November 2017.

KERHONKSON, N.Y. – The Ukrainian National Association’s General Assembly convened its first post-convention meeting here at Soyuzivka Heritage Center on Friday through Sunday, October 12-14. It was the first meeting of the General Assembly elected for the 2018-2022 term at the UNA convention held in May.

The General Assembly comprises the UNA’s executive officers, auditors and advisors – 20 members in all. As is UNA practice, during a convention year the General Assembly holds a special meeting, not an annual meeting, whose agenda is somewhat abbreviated.

KERHONKSON, N.Y. – Ukrainian Journalists of North America gathered at their fourth conference here at Soyuzivka Heritage Center on June 15-17 to focus on a theme driven by today’s news: “How to Fight Fake News.”

Topics discussed included Russian disinformation, political assassinations and Moscow’s behind-the-scenes machinations, as well as the status of Ukraine’s news media and the state of the Ukrainian language.

It was the last meeting of the General Assembly elected for the 2014-2018 term before the 2018 convention of the UNA is convened in May.

The meeting’s business sessions were marked by good news about the UNA’s continued progress, as for the fifth straight year the fraternal organization has enjoyed net profits and its surplus has surpassed $10 million.
